World Book Day
On Thursday 5th March, Strike Lane will be taking part in World Book Day. This year, our school librarians have come up with a new way of celebrating wonderful books and exciting authors. On this day, we ask that instead of children wearing a costume, this year they bring their favourite book to school. Throughout the day, they will have an opportunity to share their chosen book with their peers and do some reading with another year group so we can share as many brilliant stories as possible.
In addition to reading with another year group, each class will hold a competition for their winner of the ‘Strike Lane Book Awards’. Each child will speak to their class about the book they’ve chosen and explain their reasons why. The child who speaks with the most enthusiasm about their chosen book, will be nominated by their peers and teachers for this prestigious award and their picture, along with a cover of their favourite story, will be displayed in our school library alongside the teacher’s book recommendations.
We are really looking forward to seeing the variety of different stories and authors!
We thank you for your continued support.

Free Little Library
Due to the wonderful English weather, the Free Little
Library has had to be relocated. You will now find it
inside the covered area opposite After School Club’s
door. Please continue to use this free resource but
can you ensure if you leave or take a book, you leave
the shelves as neatly as you can. Thank you very
much for your continuing support with the
promotion or reading for pleasure at Strike Lane.
So – we have finally set up a school Facebook page – Strike Lane Primary School. If you don’t have an account, try this link and please give us a like!
